The Sweep

- Thread inspection: Run thumb along the lead. Feel for burrs, galling, or stripped pitch. Smoothness is non-negotiable.
- Surface prep: Verify mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oil sheen. Contamination shifts torque by 12%.
- Spin the fastener by hand. Resistance must be uniform through 3 full rotations.
- Any binding, grinding, or sudden stop triggers a full teardown.
